Job Overview
United Services Group is seeking skilled Pipe Welders to join our team for an exciting opportunity in Newport News, VA. This role requires expertise in welding pipes for shipbuilding projects, ensuring high-quality workmanship and compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform GTAW (TIG) and SMAW (Stick) welding on various pipe materials.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols to complete precise welds.
- Conduct inspections to ensure weld integrity and adherence to safety protocols.
- Work in accordance with Newport News Shipbuilding standards and procedures.
- Maintain clean and safe working conditions in compliance with OSHA and company safety policies.
- Troubleshoot welding defects and make necessary repairs.
Requirements
- Previous experience at Newport News Shipbuilding is required.
- Proficiency in TIG and Stick welding on carbon and stainless steel pipes.
- Ability to pass X-ray, visual, and pressure testing of welds.
- Strong understanding of welding codes and standards (AWS, ASME, etc.).
- Must be able to work in various environments (confined spaces, heights, and shipboard settings).
- Ability to pass a per-employment drug test and background check.
